Ever wondered what Greenbank looked like in 1930? Or who lived in your house a hundred years ago? Come along and find out at this informal get-together hosted by Know Your Bristol on Sunday, 1st February, at the Greenbank Pub. We will be displaying historical images of Greenbank, old newspaper articles, early twentieth-century census files, military records of Greenbank men in the First World War and many other documents from the past of the neighbourhood. You will also have the opportunity to listen to the interviews we have carried out with long-time residents of Greenbank about their memories of life in the area throughout the decades. Moreover, the event offers the chance to find out more about the restoration work that is currently going on at the Greenbank Chapel – and the big plans to celebrate its re-opening in March.
In addition, we offer a free professional digitisation service. Just bring your own old photos or documents and we can digitise them for you on the day! No booking required, everybody is welcome – whether you’d like to drop in for a few hours or a few minutes. For more information, contact marcel.thomas[at]bristol.ac.uk.
